Sgt. Klay South (USMC, Ret.) is honoring fellow Marine, Sgt. Marja Link with a Veterans of Valor ceremony on May 28, 2010
(Indianapolis, May 24, 2010) – Sgt Klay South (USMC Ret.), founder of Veterans of Valor, a 501(c) (3) non profit organization, will be honoring a fellow United States Marine in a ceremony at the City Market, downtown Indianapolis, on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 9 am.
Sgt South and Sgt Marja Link, both Purple Heart recipients, met when their parents attended a local, US Marine parent support group in 2006. Both Marines were wounded in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Because of Sgt Link’s commendations and courage while under enemy fire, in addition to the lifelong wounds she will suffer, Veterans of Valor is honored to present her with its’ backpack as a token of appreciation. Sgt Link is active in the USMC and currently awaiting orders to the Wounded Warriors Battalion East. She resides at Camp Lejune in North Carolina but grew up on the south-side of Indianapolis.
Veterans of Valor offer support and hope to the combat-wounded service members from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Backpacks full of useful items for the soldiers in their long hospital stays are given at bedside or in special ceremonies. It is an honor to meet and friend these fellow soldiers who were severely injured protecting our freedoms.
Please join us in celebrating our military and kicking off a great Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis.
