(June 3, 2010 – Indianapolis, IN) – When the American Legion contacted Klay South to be involved with their new series, “American Heroes” he was humbly gracious and honored to be included. The American Legion and the Military Channel have teamed up to honor troops who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, including three soldiers who never made it back home. A series of 10 one-minute vignettes, “American Heroes” premieres Memorial Day on the Military Channel.

Sgt Klay South (USMC, Ret.) was critically wounded November 11, 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq. After being shot point blank in the face by an Iraqi insurgent with an AK-47, Sgt south spent over 5 years in recovery and rehabilitation. He founded the non-profit organization, Veterans of Valor, in 2007 to assist wounded combat soldiers. Veterans of Valor provides backpacks full of useful items to the combat-wounded to have during their long hospital stays.
